The horse knows…she knows if you know…she also knows if you don’t know – Ray Hunt


The Foster Road Horseman Scholarship is a working scholarship and requires a commitment for the following year:

  • 1 lesson each week
  • 4 hours per month working at Foster Road Ranch
  • Work 2 Summer Camps and/or monthly Clinics/Shows if working adult
  • Horseman’s Open House and other Horseman’s Scholarship media as needed

Scholarships are awarded at various levels and are given out at our annual Horseman’s Open House. Our goal is to award full year scholarships but on the occasion that we have partial scholarship funds, we will award half year or lesson assistance if applicant applies for such. :

  • Full Year Scholarship (January 1st – January 1st)
  • Half Year Scholarship (June 1st – December 1st)
  • Lesson Assistance Scholarship (half lesson cost assistance and half work commitment for the year)

How to apply:

  1. Fill out the intent form below
  2. Complete and submit and essay or essay video by the October 1st deadline to Foster Road Ranch. Essays must be no longer than 2-3 pages double spaced or 5 minutes if done by video.

Essay questions:

  1. How did you get involved with riding? What are your riding goals?
  2. What are you wanting to learn and achieve during your scholarship tenure?
  3. What is your understanding of a commitment to becoming a horseman and how do you exhibit that commitment currently?
  4. What challenges have you overcome to be involved with riding (i.e., financial, logistical, social challenge, difficulties with your physical or mental health, etc.)?
